ABOUT CIARA
Paediatric Occupational Therapist
Ciara is a CORU and HCPC registered Occupational Therapist who qualified from Brunel University in 2009. Ciara has a Postgraduate Diploma in Sensory Integration and is an Advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner. Ciara has over 11 years of clinical experience working as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist supporting children with a diverse range of physical, sensory and learning needs in a variety of healthcare and educational settings in the UK and Ireland. Work settings include early intervention and school age children's services, pre-schools, primary and secondary schools, specialist schools, sensory integration clinics and private practice.
Ciara is passionate about enabling children to thrive and reach their maximum potential in daily life at home, in school and the community. Ciara aims to support children to participate in desired daily activities or “occupations” to maximise their daily functioning, independence and performance in activities that are meaningful to the child and family using a client-centred holistic approach.
Ciara actively develops her clinical skills and professional knowledge on an ongoing basis to ensure best evidence-based practice and a high standard of care for the children she works with. Ciara regularly attends courses and conferences in her field and has undertaken extensive post-graduate accredited and certified training in approaches such as Sensory Integration (PGDip: Advanced Practice), Therapeutic Listening, The Alert Program, The Zones of Regulation, Special Yoga, SOS Approach to Feeding and The CO-OP Approach. Ciara is a member of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT), Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland (AOTI), Paediatric Advisory Group (PAG) for OT’s in Ireland, Private Practice Advisory Group (PPAG) for OT's in Ireland, Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT), RCOT Specialist Section for Children, Young People and Families (RCOT SS-CYPF) and Sensory Integration Education (SIE) Network of UK & Ireland.
